Summary

One of four headwear in game that is able to be crafted from wood. The others being the war mask, the slicecap and the torture crown.

Analysis

In coverage of the body, If covers the entire head and face, as the war mask and war veil do. Minus some late game masterwork or legendary, war masks and synthread, devilstrand or hyperweave war veils and broadwraps, it is among some of the most protective, non-armor, headwear. For head layer apparel this amount of coverage is only exceeded by the Broadwrap.

The Visage mask is equal in its warm/cold insulation provided, but both are only with a 0.05 modifier, which is effectively none.

It is highly protective, providing a 0.3, The highest of ALL headwear. But it offers no additional special qualities, such as a % bonus to social impact, pain threshold % increase, insulation of note, Etc.

It must be made of wood or a Metallic textile, plasteel offers the highest protection, although uranium offers near equal protection. It is unknown (by this poster) how quality and materials effect comparative scaling.

Crafted from the best options of materials; plasteel or uranium, it becomes THE most kinetically protective non armor headwear in the game, with a lower barrier to acquisition than its, true armor helmet, competitors.

In this posters opinion, the Visage mask is a direct upgrade to the war mask, if a tribal start. If not a tribal start it should be used unless extreme temptures prevent it.

Optionally, the Visage mask could later be exchanged for devilstrand, or better, broadwrap. If only for easy of production supplies.
