A wood-fired generator is a structure which provides power by burning wood fuel. Unlike the varying power production of solar generators and wind turbines, wood-fired generators produce a constant supply of power so long as they are not allowed to run out of fuel. This greatly reduces your base's need for batteries, but will eat into your wood reserves over time, and will add additional workload for your haulers to take care of. If you are playing on a map with ample trees and wish to avoid dealing with weather's impact on your power supply, wood-fired generators are a reasonable solution.

A fully-fueled wood-fired generator can hold 75 wood, and will provide power for roughly 3 days and 9 hours before running out. Wood-fired generators produce heat as a by-product, although not as much as a campfire or heater. They are also very unattractive, making them a poor choice for your bedroom-heating needs.

Obtaining

Wood-fired generators can be constructed after you have completed research into Electricity. Only Lost Tribe scenarios do not give you this technology for free at the start of the game.

History

Prior to Beta 18, wood-fired generators were known as fueled generators, but were otherwise identical.
