Ability
Stun is a level 1 psycast that momentarily stuns its target.
Acquisition
There are two ways to acquire Stun:
- A randomly selected level 1 psycast is granted to the psycaster when they gain psylink level 1. Stun is one of the options that may be selected. Note that this occurs regardless of how the psylink level is gained.
- Stun can also be acquired from a psytrainer naming it. See the psytrainer page for further details.
Summary
As the name implies, the Stun psycast stuns a selected target for 180 ticks (3 secs). This target must be in line of sight but can be any pawn including human, animal, or mechanoid.[Verify][Others?] The duration scales proportionally to the target's psychic sensitivity i.e. a pawn with 200% sensitivity would be stunned for 360 ticks (6 secs) while a pawn with 0% would be immune.[Detail]
When used on a −15 Faction Relations when used on allies.[Verify] Note the actual penalty will depend on the current relationship with that faction and their natural goodwill.
Analysis
This section is a stub. You can help RimWorld Wiki by expanding it. Reason: General also style and formatting. |
One of the simplest psycasts, its effects seem weak as befitting the lowest level of psycasts, but the ability to stun at a very low cost and latency is a versatile ability that should not be underestimated, and one that remains useful at even the highest levels of psycastong
Support a melee attacker against another - given the high impact of a pawn's stats on melee capability, the first attack that lands can significantly swing the outcome of a combat.
Help melee attackers close the distance to shooters.
Peel melee attackers off ranged.
Stun wielders of powerful weapons such as doomsday rocket launchers to ensure they don't fire before a melee pawn can close and prevent their firing all together.
