OLD

So heres the beginning. I looked up details on the correct formatting of names (such as nouns, specifically video games) and it suggests doing italicized. Does this 'look' right to anyone? Does anybody even follow standard writing practices when referencing names and the such? Or am I just old school by the book?--Nystrom (talk) 23:54, 10 October 2013 (EDT)

I did the emphasizing on Wikia with bold, I find it to be easier on the eyes.

NEW

I definitely like it, though it violates some of the normal styling of the MediaWiki. But it has a basic list of useful topics, which I think is really critical. Would also be good to have a place for random screenshots, as British says. I think it should be adaptive width, like all pages, though you could set a maximum like at http://dwarffortresswiki.org/.

This is interesting and much cleaner (that's actually easy ^^). A few things, though:

  • The width is not adaptative, so it's getting "out of the screen" for lower resolutions (not everyone is using 1920x1080 and a browser in fullscreen ;p)
  • The Links and About from the actual main page need to be there in one form or another
  • It would also be nice to have a place to have a random screenshot (I need to upload a few) from a gallery (that thus needs to be created), and one for videos (need to have a bunch of the ones on YouTube)
  • I'm supposed to start revamping the pages by creating a menu like the Architect Menu in-game (with images)... I haven't had much luck freeing some time for this as of late, though, but that has to be taken into account
  • Some pages we see on "Wiki community" need to be disposed of: they're remnants of my import from Wikia
  • Regarding "News & Updates", I'd love to have Tynan managing some kind of changelog that we could use... I believe he's planning to do it at some point, but the sooner he does it, the easier it will be in the end
  • The "Welcome" text and area needs some reworking, as it doesn't fit the cleanness of the rest of the page (at least the links at the top can be moved to/kept from the actual Link section)

I'll probably find some more ideas/tweaks later one, but thanks for the proposal anyway !

For the "News & Updates", he is starting to do that now. Im guessing will wait to do it for alpha releases though? Also do like the new style. Better than anything I would've come up with...
--Nystrom (talk) 09:00, 17 October 2013 (EDT)

Thats just sample
  • Width - fixed, now adaptive (but still set max.1030) because in plans was 2 images at left and right.. ;)
  • Links - not understand what you mean, sorry. About "Screenshot" place, we have 2 more cells (maybe merge like game section) at bottom (Wiki community line)

I made a few edits, and am making a few more now to what I believe would be a good example of what Mr British wants
--Nystrom (talk) 09:42, 17 October 2013 (EDT)

I see links section, but we have same at header (Official site & forum).. Dont think that (twitter/reddit/indieDB) related with wiki, they are more related for official site & must be placed there. Also too hard use embedded CSS, not too much space for maneuvers.
--AcDie (talk) 09:55, 17 October 2013 (EDT)

Indeed you put links at the header, but I'm not convinced having a header like this is a good idea, as it's breaking nice aspect of the table.
And the links we have right now *are* important, as they are related to RimWorld as a whole, not just the wiki.

UPDATE

Tynan just updated frontpage. But don't forget to check some changes here.--AcDie (talk) 05:04, 23 October 2013 (EDT)

REPLACEMENT

[02:23:47] <AcDie> May i suggest to rename weapon structures (ingame button) to something similar (defence/security/protection)? Because we have weapons as equipment...
[02:24:08] <Tynan_> ok
[02:24:13] <Tynan_> ill make them security

So weapons button in game - Security. And equipment (weapons) - Weapons.
