Actually firing a firefoam shell from a mortar is very niche. The tiny, 5-tile radius isn't enough to cover large-scale fires, but mortars lack the precision to drop on small fires accurately. Due to the mortar's blind spot, it cannot extinguish fires inside your colony. For fires outside of your colony, the game will automatically start [[rain]] whenever fires get too big - unless a [[weather controller]]{{RoyaltyIcon}} is forcing fog.
