A tube television is a recreation item that provides "Television watching" recreation to colonists in an area in front of it, with a power of 120%. It is functionally similar to other types of television.

Acquisition

Tube televisions can be constructed once the Tube television research is completed, using the Recreation tab of the Architect menu. Constructing one requires Steel 80 Steel, Component 4 Componentss, 10,000 ticks (2.78 mins) of work and a construction skill of 7.

They can also be acquired through trade.

Analysis

The tube television is effective in a 3x5 area in front of the object, spaced 1 tile away from it. Seats need not face the TV.

The tube television has an entertainment strength factor of 120%. In terms of entertainment strength and effective area, the tube television is easily beaten by the flatscreen television and the megascreen television.

Tube televisions placed facing hospital beds can allow recovering pawns to watch TV for recreational purposes. This can be very useful, as the only other option that bed-bound pawns have requires another colonist to talk to them, and joy-less colonists suffer terrible mood penalties.
