In one part of the article it says "The material returned is the same regardless of the method" and later it says "it allows you to shred mechanoids for more material than smashing them up in a crafting spot". That's contradictory. Which is it?

Afaict from the files, the only difference is the time taken to do it - the base recipe is more work-expensive, and then theres the multiplier from being a crafting spot. I won't be able to test it in game for a while however, so I can't confirm that.
