The school desk is a furniture item added by the Biotech DLC
Acquisition[edit]
School desks can be constructed once the complex furniture research project has been completed. Each requires 30 Stuff (Woody/Stony/Metallic) and 750 ticks (12.5 secs) of work modified by the construction speed of the builder and the work to build factor and offset of the material.

School desks allow children to do the Lesson Learning task. Children sit behind the desk and constantly gain Learning. Adults can sit beside the children to increase skill XP in a random, valid skill. Adults are not required for children to learn at a desk.
Desks can connect to up to 3 nearby blackboards. Each blackboard increases Learning rate by 20% per blackboard, for a total of +60% Learning. Blackboards do not impact skill XP growth.[Verify] Multiple desks can connect to the same blackboard. Which directions the desk or blackboards are facing has no impact.
Analysis[edit]
A no-brainer to build when raising any child, as it is inexpensive and gives the child access to more learning types. Lessons can provide a significant amount of skill XP, so long as an adult is available for childcare. Even without an adult, a desk will increase the rate of learning. Adults will also gain social XP by teaching children.
