Summary

Overview & Obtaining

The war mask is a tribal clothing item. It provides minor protection, as well as increasing pain threshold, allowing the wearer to take more damage before crumpling. War masks can be purchased from traders, crafted (by tribal factions), or stripped from tribal raiders.

Crafting

Tribal headdresses can only be made by tribal factions. They can be made at a crafting spot, hand tailoring bench, or electric tailoring bench. They require 50 wood and 100 units of work.

Usage

War masks are a cheap source of armor for tribespeople in the early game, if you have a good craftsman. While they doesn't give much protection, the increase in pain shock threshold helps your tribespeople stay longer in the fight before giving in to pain.

Wood is reasonably easy to obtain in most biomes, so obtaining materials shouldn't be too much of an issue. Rather, the greater issue is having to divert labor to obtaining the wood and crafting it.

Protection

The following table lists how much protection a war mask provides at each quality level.

Quality Awful Poor Normal Good Excellent Masterwork Legendary
Sharp % 9.7 13.0 16.2 18.6 21.1 23.5 29.2
Blunt % 9.7 13.0 16.2 18.6 21.1 23.5 29.2
Heat % 16.2 21.6 27.0 31.1 35.1 39.2 48.6

Insulation Information

War masks offer a tiny amount of insulation from both heat and cold. However, the boost is so small it's unlikely to have any impact -- less than 1°C at legendary quality.
