The scanner simply makes it that mineral lumps can be found within its effective area. Placing scanners close to one another has little to no effect. When viewing the scanners there will be an 'Efficiency' value displayed. Having a scanner's scanned area overlap with another will reduce the efficiency, and if you place one in the same map as another it will be at 0% meaning it is nonfunctional

Long-range mineral scanner

Long-range mineral scanner

Automatically detects precious minerals like gold or jade in the nearby areas (but not in which it was built). The lumps are found on average once per 30 days within a radius of 30 tiles. Building more than one scanner in the same or nearby areas has little to no effect.

The long-range mineral scanner can automatically detect precious mineral deposits (only gold or jade) in the nearby areas outside your colony on average once per 30 days with a radius of 30 world tiles. The scanner spawns mineral lumps mini-maps in the world map and triggers its respective world event which will not expire.

The minerals can be either unguarded, guarded by pirates or surrounded by a manhunter pack. Once all hostiles have been eliminated if any, you have a 10 days countdown to mine everything before the caravan leaves. Besides the precious minerals, you can also mine out anything else on the mini-map, such as components or steel.

  • Pirate defenders, will surround the lump with a rudimentary base and possibly turrets.
  • Manhunter pack, a random set of manhunter animals, some are slow allowing player maneuvering and others are fast and require a defensive stance.
