Dressers are a type of furniture which slightly enhances the comfort of any human bed or bedroll, except a sleeping spot. To work, it must be placed within 6 tiles of the bed. Small and cheap, there is usually no reason not to attach these to every bed you have.

This comfort bonus stacks with the effect of an end table, but not with additional dressers. Larger beds and bedrolls which serve two colonists at once still only need one dresser. While multiple beds can share a dresser, placing multiple beds in a single bedroom turns it into a barracks, which you ideally should avoid.

Acquisition

Constructing a dresser requires Complex Furniture to be researched, and 50 of any one type of stone, metal. or wood

Analysis

Assuming the comfort of the bed without the dresser is 95% or below, the dresser adds approximately an hour of the comfortable mood buff as well as potentially increasing the power of the buff itself. For example, a normal quality royal bed has a comfort rating of 90%. Assuming the pawn can sleep until their comfort bar is maxed, and the pawn does not gain comfort from another source (e.g. by sitting for recreation, meals or work), this results in a mood buff of +8 for 2 hours, +6 for 2 hours and +4 for 2 hours. Adding a dresser increases the bed's comfort rating to 95% and, under the same assumptions, results in a mood buff of +10 for 1 hour, +8 for 2 hours, +6 for 2 hours and +4 for 2 hours. Adding an end table would increase the time with a +10 mood buff to 2 hours. For comparisons sake, a beer also provides a +10 mood buff and lasts 4.8 hours, but is consumable and also increases social fight chance and decreases manipulation - note, however a beer can be stacked with the comfortable bonus.

For pawns with jobs that can done sitting in an armchair the buffs from the Dresser and End Table become less important, as a normal quality armchair will maintain the "Very Comfortable" buff (+6) all day, however the 2 hours each at +10 and +8 can still be advantageous given the one time cost of 80 wood or steel is fairly minor. Once excellent quality armchairs are available, with a comfort level of 99% even this advantage evaporates as the armchair can maintain the +10 bonus all day, and only pawns that cannot sit on the job (e.g. Growers or Animal Handlers) will benefit.

Similarly, beds and bedrolls of masterwork quality and royal beds of good quality also negate any benefit from dressers or end tables.

Nobles Content added by the Royalty DLC of Knight/Dame rank or above require dressers in their room to be avoid a mood penalty, unless they have the Ascetic trait.
