Deathrest casket

Deathrest casket

An enclosed med-casket that accelerates the process of deathrest. It can connect to other devices which confer additional bonuses on the deathrester. The number of devices that can connect depends on the person's deathrest capacity, which can be seen by selecting them.
Only those with the deathrest gene can use the deathrest casket.

The deathrest casket is a building added by the Biotech DLC that allows pawns with the Deathrest gene to both deathrest faster and to link to other buildings for additional benefits.

Acquisition

Deathrest caskets can be constructed once the Deathrest research project has been completed. They require Steel 100 Steel, Component 3 Components and 2,500 ticks (41.67 secs) of work.

Summary

A powered deathrest casket speeds up deathrest by 11%, meaning it takes only 3.6 game-days to avoid the Deathrest Interrupted penalty. The casket itself uses 0 W of power, but still must be connected to an electrical grid to function. Once rested in, the casket permanently binds to its user, though deconstructing it has no penalty.

While resting in a deathrest casket, colonists heal by an additional 4 HP per day, the same as all non-hospital beds -- see injury for details. Caskets can be walked over, although at a slower rate.

A casket can connect to other deathrest buildings, much like a bed and dresser.

Analysis

It uses almost as much resources as a wood-fired generator, but costs one more component. This makes it a rather hefty investment in the early-game, especially for the sanguophage scenario.

As with all other deathrest machines, these cost a non-negligble amount of steel and components. Consider holding off on building them until you are more well established and are able to produce steel and components reliabily with deep drills and fabrication benches.

They also do not consume power while idling, unlike their contemporaries such as sleep accelerators. Hence, they can be left idle without consequence.
