What is a base

In rimworld the base is the central location or place where colonist sleep, haul metal/food too and research.

Why are bases important

A base is important because most people want to keep there colonists in a safe area where they won't be killed or incapacitated.

Types of bases

There are three types of bases, mined out bases, partially mined out bases and open area bases.

Mined out bases are bases which have been mined out of rock.

partially mined out bases are bases which have been mined out of rock and are out in the open

Open area bases are bases which are out in the open(these bases are not recommended because they need a lot more defending and and more prone to raiders attacks.
