The backstory defines the skills of the colonist in question and is divided into two parts, childhood and adulthood. The backstory may either enhance or impair the colonists competence regarding specific skills. Currently there are over 100 of childhood and only about 30 adulthood backstories. Several adult backstories are not available in the character creation phase, however they do randomly appear on raiders and wanderers.
