Persona core
A hyper-advanced computer core that houses a peak-human-equivalent machine persona. In its isolated state, the core is dormant. Installed in a proper support structure, however, it can become a mind of great power.

It can only be found in an item stash world quest, or earned as a reward for completing quests for other factions. In 1.0 you may also request other factions to deliver the core, presumably at a cost.
As you need only one core to win the game, additional cores can be traded away without fear of setting yourself back.
History
Prior to Beta 18, an AI persona core could be salvaged by destroying a psychic ship or found for purchase from an exotic goods trader.
